“Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.” Plato
Welcome to my site!
I started the journey towards better health when I started my job as a high school counselor, last year. After 2 years of graduate school, I had gained more weight than ever, making my highest weight 158. Being prior military (Coast Guard) it was hard for me to see myself with this much weight. So, I joined a great social networking website (www.myfitnesspal.com) geared towards connecting people with others looking to move towards a healthier life style. It hasn't been easy and it hasn't been fast but so far I have lost about 24 pounds. I am 6 pounds away from my goal.
In addition to feeling better physically, I feel better mentally/emotionally. I have been fighting the depression/anxiety battle for as long as I can remember. Last month, for the first time since bootcamp (about 10 years) I got up and went for a run (more like a wog or walk/jog). When I returned to the house I felt fantastic. I have discovered that exercises (especially running) is the best "cure" for my bad days. This is why I continue. As the tee shirts say "Running: Cheaper Than Therapy."
So there ya have it. My goals are not only physical health but mental health. Follow me as I work towards achieving them and becoming the best me possible.
Thanks for visiting.
